
Munsong is a small peaceful Himalayan hamlet on a hilltop still untouched by hustle bustle of tourism. Situated at an altitude of 5000 feet, a small picturesque hamlet adjacent to Kalimpong. Surrounded by luxuriant forest and vibrant cinchona plantation, Munsong is just about 20 km away from Kalimpong. Far from the hustle and bustle of city life, it offers an mesmerizing view of Mt. Kanchenjunga along with the panoramic view of the winding River Teesta through the valleys. The village is surrounded by Cinchona plantation. A very thinly populated village with few huts and small cultivation of vegetables scattered here and there.

Munsong sightseeing
There are few spots around the village where travelers can go for sightseeing. Jalsha Bunglow , Mangarjung view point , hilltop abandoned monastery, Cinconha Plantation are some of the most popular tourist spots around munsong.
Mangarjung view point : The specialty of Mangarjung is you can enjoy the longest view from Teesta from an altitude of 3500 Ft and also the stunning view of the beloved Mt. Kanchenjunga on a clear day. The place is so quiet that you can hear the sound of flowing Teesta river from the 3500 Ft hilltop.
Jalsa Bungalow : Jalsa Bungalow located at Upper Munsong, was built by the British in the early 1920’s. It used to host the Sahibs and Babus working at the Cinconha Plantations. The bungalow is located on a hilltop within age-old pine trees, landscaped gardens and has a panoramic view of the Teesta River Valley.
Abandoned monastery: There is abandoned monastery in a small hill top in munsong. A soft trekking of around 30 min (1.5 km) will take you in the monastery ground. one can finds the ruins of the monastery now. The road toward the monastery goes through the cinchona forest and the view from the top is really amazing. This a unique monastery where symbol of other religion is presented.
