Rajabhatkhawa in Dooars is the gateway to Buxa Tiger Reserve. It is a small town situated adjacent to the Buxa Tiger Reserve in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal, India. It is known for its natural environment and is surrounded by forest. All the permits for the entry to the Buxa Tiger reserve can be taken from here.
The green forests, grey hills, cascading river make Rajabhatkhawa an ideal spot for experiencing jungle tourism at its best. This territory is taken care of by streams Raidak and Jayanti. The region here is of thick, dim backwoods with interminable nature trails where you can hear and see a variety of flora and fauna
The name of the place literally means where the king had a meal”. There is a story behind the name of the town. It is said that in 1800, the lord of Cooch Behar promised to never eat rice in the event that he didn’t figure out how to depose the leader of Bhutan from the region where the town flourishes now. After some time, the ruler of Bhutan himself consented to leave and as a motion of friendship, the rulers met and had a blowout of rice in the thick woods. That gave the town its name.
Rajabhatkhawa Nature Interpretation Centre is another visitor goal of this peaceful backwoods town. This museum houses in excess of 1500 types of fragile orchids. For birdwatcher Rajabhatkhawa is a must visit village. There are number of fledgling species alongside transitory species are seen here. Fork tails, Goosanders, Ibis Bill are not many among them.
National Highway 31C passes through Rajabhat Khawa. Rajabhatkhawa also has a railway station which is situated on the New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar-Samuktala Road Line.
Jungle Safaris : The main entryway for section to Buxa Reserve is at Rajabhatkhawa where entry tickets should be bought for both your vehicle, driver and individual travelers. A few safaris happen at Buxa ,Jayanti region.

Best Time to visit
Buxa Tiger Reserve remains closed between June 15th to September 15th due to monsoon and safaris do not take pace during this time. The best time to visit rajabhatkhwa is the winter time between October to February. Weather remains very pleasant during this time and safaris are very enjoyable.
