Pukhri Lake is a must-visit sightseeing destination from jayanti. The Pukhari Lake located at a 5-6 kilometers distance from Jayanti is great piece of interest to the tourists traveling to Buxa Tiger Reserve in Dooars. The lake is surrounded with greenery all around and there is complete peace one can enjoy. Just beside the lake there are many colorful festoons and a place of worship of the Bhutias (Buddhists). There is no temple of sort but a small block of stone over which some metallic symbols were present and from the amount of molten wax around the place.
“Pokhari Lake ” which is called as Pukhri Pahar is called . The word PUKHRI PAHAR means in Nepali a hanging pond on the hill. The Pukhri Lake and the wetland around is considered sacred by the Buddhist and local tribal community. The pond is considered as extremely sacred and people even do not touches its water with feet. Large number of big-sized Magur and Turtle fish in the waters of the POKHRI is another attraction of the place. The fishes and Tortoises in the lake comes to the surface of the water if faded .You can see the frenzy of the fish in water as they feed.

The car goes up to 4 kms from Jayanti through dense forest and then it involves a 1.2km uphill trek to an altitude of 1,100 ft. The trek route passes through dense serene forest.

One can visit the pokhri throughout the year. The dark rolling clouds over the lush mountains and riverbeds in the horizon in monsoons are a treat to the eyes. The winters are nice for the sunshine and birds and butterflies.

Reaching Jayanti is easy because it’s accessible by road.
By air – It is 221 km from Bagdogra airport.
By train– The nearest railway station is Rajabhatkhawa (4km). New alipurduar rail station is 33 km and alipurduar junction station is only 25 km away.
By road – This forest village is around 30 km away from Alipuruar via Rajabhatkhawa. Rajabhatkhawais only 13 km and this road passes through the dense forest of Buxa Tiger Reserve.
