National Folk Heritage Museum
National Folk Heritage Museum otherwise called Phelchey Toenkhyim is one of the supported touring places in Thimphu. It was work with a motive to safeguarding and preserving the customary and moral estimations of indigenous Bhutanese culture.
This museum was introduced in 28th July 2001 by Her Majesty, the Queen Ashi Dorji Wangchuk. The museum is housed in a 3-story 19th century traditional rammed mud and timber house aged more than 150 years. It includes paddy, wheat and millet fields, watermill, kitchen gardens, hot stone bath etc. The ground floor resembles barn, the upper floor resembles safe store and the top most floor resembles living and dining area. The historical center continues sorting out the exhibits of traditional conventions, abilities and customs consistently. Remember to taste the true Bhutanese cooking at the historical center, which is accessible on buffet framework.
Timing to Visit National Folk Heritage Museum
The museum opens everyday except government holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sundays. This museum stays close during few holiday in Bhutan. Please check here for the Closing days.
